Final fall season at CAL #26 national rank (12-5-2)  record #8 defense in USA.

Mallon's soccer resume includes a storied fourteen year collegiate soccer coaching career at Rutgers - Camden, Yale, and University of California - Berkeley; where his teams reached the NCAA Division I National Championship Tournament sweet sixteen and quarter final at Yale -coaching with Steve Griggs.  During a seven year tenure as Men's Head Soccer Coach at UC Berkeley - Mallon led the CAL Bears from #145 to a school record #2 NCAA national ranking in October 1996 with a 10-0-2 record and wins over UCLA, Stanford, U. of Washington, and Santa Clara. At Cal, Mark raised a total of $5 million for Men's Soccer to establish the adidas Rolling Thunder Scholarship in honor of former CEO Rob Strasser,  and spearheaded a $3.5 million soccer/track stadium renovation.  The legacy facility and scholarship fund are still fueling the success of CAL Men's Soccer by providing funds to recruit MLS professional and US national team level players to Berkeley.

Yale set NCAA school records 20-6-2 Ivy League with two championships and NCAA sweet 16 and 1/4 Tournament finishes in Mallon's four years coaching with Steve Griggs at Yale University.

Director of Coaching & Player Development:

Mark Mallon served as Interim US Soccer Development Academy Director Tampa, Florida 2017-18.

Mallon was  the first Director of Coaching and Player Development for the 2,800 member San Ramon Soccer club. He designed and developed the curriculum, training program, and had oversight to select, hire, and train 400+ coach staff.   Mark's coaching and training led to two of his club players reaching professional level in MLS - David Bingham (LA Galaxy) and Andrew Wiedeman (FC Dallas/Toronto) and Dallas Jaye (USL Championship), and many others receiving scholarships for college soccer.

After ten years as DOC in California, Mark Mallon founded The Soccer Institute campus in the Cleveland, Ohio area in (2005) on a scenic seventy five acre property he developed into a soccer training center.  The facility included indoor and outdoor fields, dining hall, and residential cabins providing summer camps and year round training programs. The TSI Premier youth soccer club for boys and girls U9 - U18 was also established organically and won Ohio State Premier League championships while developing underserved rural players.

Mark Mallon has identified, trained, coached, and developed many MLS professional players:

Mark Mallon coached Richard Weiszmann at UC Berkeley developing CAL's first MLS player who signed with (NE Revolution), then Chris Roner (MLS San Jose), then Leonid Krupnik (MLS NY Red Bull),  and identified, coached, and recruited Troy Roberts to CAL before #21 draft to MLS (LA Galaxy).  Troy Roberts is a classic example of Mallon's eye for talent and ability to train and prepare players for the next level.  Troy was cut from the N-CA U16 ODP team...under a different coach. Mallon, the U17 California ODP State Head Coach selected him, changed his position, and Troy led the team to the Far West Regional Championship and Snickers National Championship final four.  He was selected to the full U20 National Team that year based on Mallon's recommendation and suggestion to Lyle Yorks (Mallon's former assistant Coach at CAL - now a top US layer agent) to pass Troy on to George Gelnovatch the U20 Coach at that time.

MLS players Calen Carr (Chicago) and Chris Wondolowski San Jose (MLS all time scoring leader) both attended Mark Mallon California Soccer Camp at UC Berkeley as youth players.
